HELLO WORLD. I’m Felicia, there’s really nothing else you can do with my name other than calling me Fe so Felicia works (unless you want to give me a really cool nickname, I don’t mind). I’m one of the new interns here at Open Our Eyes so you’ll get to know me as time goes on and you can read my little bio on the interns page as well. I’ll be blogging on here every Monday and every other Friday from now on so I figured before you start reading the totally awesome blogs I’ll be producing that you should get to know me.
I started getting involved with Open Our Eyes because of my love for Brittny but what we do is something I’ve been passionate about for as long as I can remember. My life has consisted of many rough patches that include depression, suicide, and addiction. Even if it wasn’t happening to me, it was happening to people I cared about and I just wanted to find a way to stop it. Working with Open Our Eyes is kind of my way of remembering the people I’ve lost through helping others and music. Oh, music. Music is probably the most important thing to me in the entire world. I can’t imagine life without it and it’s wonderful healing powers. It’s something I feel everyone should turn to when they’re feeling blue. Music is therapeutic (I would know, I wrote a paper on it). If you don’t believe me, take a look at Open Our Eyes. We use music to help people get through things. What’s great about open our eyes is that we’re a community and a family. We’re here to help no matter what. I feel like the sense of having a group of people always being there for someone has been lost in this crazy society and it’s good to know that Open Our Eyes has kept the feeling alive.
-Felicia 🙂
