In 2007, five friends joined together to go after their dream and six years later, they couldn’t be happier. The Summer Set consists of singer Brian Dales, guitarists John Gomez and Josh Montgomery, bassist Stephen Gomez and drummer Jess Bowen. Since the release of their first EP ‘Love the Love You Have’, The Summer Set have come so far, growing as both people and musicians.
In October 2009 the band released their first full length album ‘Love Like This’ and since then have traveled the world playing countless shows, including runs on the 2009 Alternative Press Tour, 2010 Vans Warped Tour, 2011’s red-hot Dirty Work Tour with All Time Low and Yellowcard, the annual Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey, and international dates in places like Australia, Brazil, Japan and Europe. Now The Summer Set are currently gearing up for their European Tour supporting band Sleeping With Sirens.
In 2011, The Summer Set signed a new contract with Fearless Records which released their latest album. The band took a break from their hectic tour schedule to work on their most recent album ‘Legendary’, which was released in Spring of 2013. Singer Dales said that “with Legendary we really wanted to inspire people to be a better person and have fun and live in the moment and enjoy every inch.” The band introduced Legendary with their first single “Maybe Tonight” in February, which was to help promote the band’s new campaign Half Moon Kids, a community the band created to share ‘Legendary’’s challenge to be the best version of one’s self. Half Moon Kids allows fans and others to share visions, meet people who share similar interests and views and encourages people to be nothing but themselves. ‘Legendary’ also produced the band’s most successful song to date, “Boomerang”. They are also the winners of the Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star competition, winning a spot at this year’s iHeartRadio Music Fest.
‘Legendary’ is a combination of the band’s previous albums, with the energy of Love Like This and the maturity of Everything’s Fine. The Summer Set have progressed a lot since the beginning and continue to grow as they journey through the excitements of being part of the music industry. I have no doubt that this band will continue to inspire and look out for their fans and for others for a long time. There is a lot more of The Summer Set to come that is for certain.
