Lykke Li’s newest single, “No One Ever Loved” comes off of the soundtrack for the upcoming film, “The Fault In Our Stars,” based off the book of the same name. The track listing also includes other artists such as Charli XCX and Ed Sheeran.
“No One Ever Loved” is hauntingly beautiful. Throughout the song, we hear a chilling vocal performance accompanied by light guitar and piano instrumental. Each note feels personal, connecting the love song to the listener, feeling the deep emotion behind each lyric. It gives the song a very intimate feel, as if we’re watching a hollow, helpless moment that’s still filled with hope for the future.
Without giving away any spoilers, the movie and the song are perfectly fit for each other. The painstaking grace that is effortlessly sung matches the charm in the book and movie. Though it is made specifically for the soundtrack, it fits right into her latest album, “I Never Learn” as well, which welcomes praise from both fans of her own music and new fans due to the movie.
The Fault In Our Stars hits theaters on June 6th. Be sure to pick up the soundtrack on Itunes, out now!
