If you watch TV, you might have seen an AT&T commercial that featured a new phone with a camera that can zoom in and take a picture just as well as you could on the front row. That band playing? The Colourist! The two founders of this group met in a warehouse in Southern California; they then combined with a few of their friends and formed the musical creation that is the Colourist.
This indie group has had their fair share of start out time though. They released their debut (and most well-known) single in 2009,“Little Games.” Since then, the group has released an EP and their debut self-titled album. They’ve played South by Southwest and won awards from the O.C. Music Awards. The band toured earlier this year with Panic! At The Disco who exposed them to a different genre of people than their festival crowds and local fans.
You might be wondering what exactly a Colourist is? And why these California locals spelled color “wrong”? Their name originated from the career of a colorist on a film set, and though they’re American, the European spelling was the only one available for use!
If you like artists like Magic Man or the Mowgli’s, listen to The Colourist and be on the lookout for new tour dates near you! You can also follow them on Twitter, like them on Facebook, and follow them on Spotify!
