For Me, Not for You

Just because you tell me you think my body is beautiful doesn’t make me love it anymore.

My relationship with my body is with me and not you.

When I do not want to take full body nude photo and you say it’s alright because that’s what you like doesn’t change my mind on how I feel about the way I look in pictures.

Just because you’ve seen my naked body doesn’t give you any right to any picture I do or do not want to take.

Telling me I look prettier without makeup doesn’t change the fact that I love putting on makeup almost everyday.

What I do to myself isn’t for you, it’s for me.

I watched hours of makeup tutorials so I learn something and feel good about myself. Not to impress you.

I will put on any color lipstick I want, to give myself a confidence booster not to seduce you.

I wear low cut shirts sometimes so I can feel sexy in my own body not to catch your attention.

Whether I wear my hair in a bun, down, or in a braid doesn’t give you the right to tell me how I should wear it because I look better a certain way.

While yes I enjoy looking sexy and maybe even flaunting it sometimes and I don’t mind if you take a quick look but that doesn’t give you the right to tell me that I should love how my body looks just because you do.
